We basically shouldn’t need an excuse to eat tacos, and that counts holidays, as well. Mexican street food may not be the obvious thing to do for a Swedish culinary experience, but the fact that it’s 1) fast 2) packed with flavour and 3)non-pretentious makes it a welcoming addition to almost any travel itinerary.
Like any respectable place, Scandinavia loves tacos. Copenhagen has its shares of reliable taquerias like BlueTaco and Hija De Sanchez. Malmö is signing up for that list with Eatery Social, Clarion Hotel’s restaurant close to the central station.
On their menu, you’ll find traditional tacos, quesadillas, nachos and cod ceviches served with the well-knowns guacamole and pico de gallo. And there’s also some classic American dishes like smoke ribs and Caesar salad on the menu to make everyone happy. Their cocktails are also worth a look. Their take on the classic sour with mezcal, as well as their Paloma cocktail with (you guessed it) mezcal, grapefruit and club soda were our favourites.
Two things worth knowing about this eatery is that 1) they make everything from scratch - from salsa to tortilla doughs 2) they try to be as local as possible. Keeping a 100% locally-produced ingredient list is pretty hard in these northern parts of Europe. Therefore, their tomatillos and masa harina may not come from Malmö, but they seem to be doing their best to cook as local as possible.
